Mr. Norman Salmon co-founded Hummingbird Scientific along with Professor Eric Stach in 2004. Together they have built a thriving, profitable, and debt free company that has created more than a dozen innovative products and aided their customers with hundreds of scientific publications.

Dr. Alsem is the Director of Research and Engineering at Hummingbird Scientific. He has two decades worth of research and development experience with in-situ and analytical transmission electron microscopy, electron microscopy-centered experimentation, and microscopy methods and hardware development. After acquiring his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley, Dr. Alsem worked at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s National Center of Electron Microscopy. He previously also held an Affiliate Assistant Professor position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington.
